Orchard Road to Bukit Panjang

Just picked up my new camera. Lovely. Should be. Cost enough. Hopefully the last digital camera I buy for a long while. Here's a few shots I took with it on the way home from the shop.

Saturn is really, really far away

This is Saturn. Shot with my longest lens (a 400mm) with a 1.4x teleconverter and the 1.6x crop factor of my Nikon D7000, giving it an effective focal length of almost 900mm.  And it's cropped like you wouldn't believe - you can see the pixels.... but, you can also see the rings, and for me, that is what this is all about.  Imagine how Galileo Galilei, Christiaan Huygens and Giovanni Domenico Cassini felt observing something probably looking a little like this during the 17th century.

I think I need one of these, or one of these...  Maybe one day I'll do a photographic series on space exploration.  Might give me an excuse to go to the Atacama Desert, or at least to get a badass telescope, (you know, for the kids...)

Pax & Maru

One from the archives, a trip to New York's Lower East Side to visit Gabriele & Pax....

Chocolate Eclairs

Quite possibly the tastiest pudding in the whole world.
