Sombra Projects is proud to present its inaugural exhibition, a collaborative effort dedicated to showcasing social documentary photography within a fine art aesthetic.

해녀 - Haenyeo & the Nikonos V

It's going to be a while before I finish editing the work I shot on the incredible women of Jeju known as the Haenyeo and even longer before I get a chance to go back and finish the project. However, the underwater Nikonos V camera I bought just prior to the last trip performed like a charm. Below is one from that camera and a shot I regard as stylistically a homage to Asako Narahashi and the work that appears in her sublime book 'Half Awake and Half Asleep in the Water' .
