The Dales

I took a short walk though some proper Yorkshire landscapes while visiting my mum last week. My 88 year old grandma came along. "I could do a few more miles!" She said shortly before falling asleep in the car.

The Oxford Circus

One evening in London I had just been to the Photographer's Gallery to check out the The Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2008 and was heading back west to Ealing where I was staying. This was the sight that greeted me when I reached Oxford Circus. The queue stretched far back dow n the street in all directions. It wasn't even moving. People were reading papers, doing Suduko puzzles and generally being very politely English.

I decided to walk to the next stop along - Bond Street - and lo and behold there was no queue and I managed to get on a tube train without any difficulty. This reminded me why I cycled everywhere I could when I lived in London. I hate commuting.

All day drinking

One of the pleasures of being in the UK is the wealth of comfortable Pubs serving fine ales, wines and spirits. Combine this with good food and a liberal dose of the company of friends and it's no wonder a whole day can be spent in the boozer.

Fancy a pint?
